Specimen Type: Corneal scraping
Specimen Collection: Specimen collected by opthalmologist using a sterile spatula to scrape ulcers and/or lesions. Scrapings are directly inoculated onto plate media and glass slides (call Microbiology lab, in advance, at 773-702-6133 for kit). Specimen Volume and Container: Plate media and slide kit available from Microbiology lab 773-702-6133.
Specimen Transport: 24 hr, no refrigeration
Specimen Type: Contact lenses case and solution
Specimen Collection: Send contact lenses, case, and/or solution to Microbiology lab.

Directions: Inoculate specimen directly onto the provided media.
Seal plate with parafilm or tape the lid before sending to the lab.
Notify lab at 773-702-6133 before sending specimen to lab.
