Clinical Indications
Urine protein electrophoresis may help identify monoclonal proteins which are excreted into the urine and may elude detection by serum protein electrophoresis, especially the Bence-Jones Proteins (monoclonal free kappa or lambda light chains) which are characteristic of light chain disease.
