Test Usage: Intended for the qualitative detection of total (IgG/Igm) antibodies to Treponema pallidum.

Test Limitations: This test is not useful for diagnosis of congenital syphilis. Cannot be used for newborn screening or to confirm treatment success.

Rejection Criteria

  • Common specimen rejected situations include: incorrect specimen type, insufficient volume, incorrect collection container, missing or incomplete specimen identifiers, incorrect specimen transport, or specimens outside stability limits. 
  • Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, or icteric specimens will be rejected.
