Additional Information

This analyzer is intended for the measurement of the following in urine: Bibilirubin, Blood (Occult), Glucose, Ketone, Leukocytes, Nitrite, pH, Protein, Specific Gravity, and Urobilinogen.

Reagent strips for urinalysis are affixed with several separate reagent test pads one for each analyte. When dipped into the urine, color changes in the reagent areas will occur based on the levels of the compound in the urine sample and the reaction with the specific reagent on the test strip.

The urinalysis strips also measure physical characteristics, including acid-base balance and urine concentration. Test results can be used along with other diagnostic information to rule out certain disease states and to determine if microscopic analysis is needed.

Clinical Indication

This urinalysis test is used to assist in the diagnosis in the following areas:

  • Kidney function
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Metabolic disorders (such as diabetes mellitus)
  • Liver function
