Test Code LABTXREGOPO (Test Code: 853308) Regional OPO Blood Draw

Ordering Notes

For specimen send out to regional OPO laboratories, an order for recipient HLA Antibody Testing is needed. The test report will accompany the specimen to the specified laboratories.

Specimen and Container/Tube

Specimen Type: Serum
Preferred Specimen: Gold top SST (5)
Other Acceptable Specimens: Tiger top (marble) SST, red top

Volume

Preferred Volume: 25mL
Minimum Volume: 25mL

Specimen Stability

Specimens may be kept at room temperature for up to 24 hours following collection. Once centrifuged, specimens may be kept at refrigeraton (4°C) for up to one week.

Collect specimen per standard laboratory collection procedures.

Specimen Handling and Transport Instructions

UCM Onsite Instructions: Collect specimen per standard collection procedures and send to the laboratory immediately.
UCM Offsite and UC MedLab Outreach Instructions: Collect specimen per standard collection procedures and send to the laboratory using standard transport procedures.

Rejection Criteria

Unspun samples greater than 24 hours may be rejected. Sample with visible signs of hemolysis (H-Index > 100) may be rejected.
