UCMC Collection Instructions

Specimen Collection: Without using a speculum, swab the lower vagina followed by the rectum using the same swab or two different swabs.
Specimen Transport: 24 hr, no refrigeration.

The optimum specimen for this test is a vaginal/rectal swab.  Results may be compromised if only a vaginal or rectal swab is submitted.  Vaginal or rectal swabs only are not acceptable due to lack of sensitivity.
