Test Limitations

Urine should be pretreated and analyzed immediately.
Acidify sample to a pH of <2.0.
If preservatives need to be used for other analyte orders,
collect sample using Hydrochloric Acid (6N HCl)

Test Usage

The test is used for the diagnosis and monitoring of hypocalcemia (calcium deficiency) and hypercalcemia (excess
calcium) in urine.

Drugs containing strontium salts may lead to significantly increased calcium results.

1. Follow clinic instructions for 24 hour collection process.
2. Keep urine refrigerated during the 24 hour collection process.
3. Aliquot 10 mL from a well mixed timed sample collection.
4. Indicate collection volume and duration.
5. Transport refrigerated (2-8 ° C).
