Test Limitations

a- Amylase is unstable in acid urine. Assay promptly or
adjust
pH to alkaline range (about pH 7) before storage. Freezing has
caused substantial loss of amylase activity in some urine
specimens
and is therefore not recommended.

Useful in the diagnosis and management of pancreatitis. An aid in
the evaluation of pancreatic function.
