Test Usage
Salicylate measurements are used in the diagnosis and
treatment
of salicylate overdose and in monitoring salicylate levels to
ensure appropriate therapy.
Critical Results
>30 mg/dL
Test Limitations
Alpha-ketobutyric Acid: Positive interference at 50 mg/dL or
greater.
In individual patients interference from bilirubin,
hemoglobin
and lipemia can be significant.
