Test Components

Fecal leukocytes. Not performed on patients who have been
in-house for more than 3 days.

Specimen Stability

7 days

Additional Information

  • Send entire specimen if possible.
  • 3 random specimens, 1 per day for each of the 3 days.
  • Protozoa may be destroyed within 2-3 hrs after passage
    unless
    transport vials containing preservatives are used.
  • Specimens containing mineral oil, bismuth, iron, and
    magnesium
    compounds are unsatisfactory.
