Test Limitations
High concentrations of gadolinium and iodide are known to
interfere with most metals tests. If either gadolinium- or
iodide-containing contrast media has been administered, a specimen
cannot be collected for 96 hours. Elevated results from
noncertified trace element-free tubes may be due to
contamination.
Diet, medication, and nutritional supplements may introduce
interfering substances.
