We are pleased to provide you with access to the University of Chicago Medicine Laboratories Test Catalog.  The purpose of this test catalog is to provide information to care providers who place laboratory test orders, obtain and handle specimens for laboratory testing, and receive test results. It contains testing information as well as process instructions and supplemental forms if required.

Staff members of the University of Chicago Medicine Department of Pathology offer a variety of specialized diagnostic services and other patient care services. For the purpose of these functions, the department is divided into three major sections: Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Genomic and Molecular Pathology.

 

The Anatomical Pathology Section includes autopsy, surgical pathology and cytopathology, and special service laboratories--neuropathology and renal pathology. Many of our physicians have expertise in the following:

  • Bone pathology
  • Cardiovascular and pulmonary pathology
  • Diagnostic electron microscopy
  • Histochemistry
  • Immunocytochemistry/in situ hybridization
  • Tumors of the genital tract

 

The Clinical Pathology Section includes the following laboratories and physicians with expertise in:

  • Blood bank/transfusion medicine
  • Clinical chemistry/toxicology
  • Clinical microbiology/immunology
  • Coagulation
  • Endocrinology
  • Hematology/hematopathology
  • HLA

 

The Genomic and Molecular Pathology section includes laboratories and physicians with expertise in:

  • Next generation sequencing
  • Molecular diagnostics PCR
  • Cytogenetics

 

UChicago MedLabs offers global reference laboratory services operating within University of Chicago Medicine's Department of Pathology. We provide reference laboratory testing to various related and unrelated healthcare entities of the University of Chicago Medicine, managed care organizations and non-affiliated hospitals, outpatient clinics and private physicians' offices.
